This snake ball is a basketball covered in fiberglass mesh, then concrete. Then I created a tube out of hardware cloth,
flat and wider at one end (the head) and tapered at one end for the tail. This tube was filled with newspaper and wrapped
around the concrete-covered ball. I embedded black aquarium gravel in the snake's body for scales, and finished the
ball with a mosiac of mirror...

And this column makes a perfect perch for the snake ball. The snake on the column wraps around all four sides - I haven't figured out how long that would make it when measured from end to end, but I am sure I wouldn't want to meet up with it in real life!
